For the Indian part of our travels, we had pre-booked an all inclusive tour around the golden triangle to visit Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. It made the trip seem relatively struggle free!

Kobe had a nice, relaxed vibe, which made for a pleasant day trip.

- Went up in the cable car, by Shin-Kobe, to a nice viewpoint:
- Numerous french bistros in town (including a Cafe De Paris) with European architecture, e.g. Starbucks in a French-style Chateau
- Chilled out ambience at night

How we travellled to Kobe
- Day trip from Shin-Osaka
- Shinkansen train to/from Shin-Osaka/Shin-Kobe (20 minutes)

Our visit to Hiroshima was very educational and humbling.

Highlights
- A-bomb dome - a surviving building from 6th Aug 1945, preserved as a memorial.
- Local volunteer guide woman told us the story of Hiroshima and how members of her family died. This really moved us/was better than the museum, and made our journey worthwhile.
- Visited the Peace Memorial Museum
- Had lunch in the Peace Memorial Park- Saw the flame of peace - Will keep burning until the last nuclear weapon on earth has been destroyed

Nara was a nice break from the big cities, as it was a smaller city with large park areas.

- Walked from station to Nara-koen and saw a lot of wild deer being fed biscuits by tourists
- Kofuku-ji Temple
- 5-storey pagoda at Kofuku-ji Temple - the 2nd tallest in Japan
- Passed through Nandai-mon gate
- Todai-ji Temple - including the world's largest wooden building (called Daibutsu Den) housing the Great Buddha
- Walked up to Nigatsu-Do Hall and stood on the veranda for view over Nara

Kyoto is a bustling modern city, and not particularly pretty in places - unexpected the way everyone talks about it, but it does have nice traditional areas.

We stayed in Japan for 17 nights, and in two trips we spent a total of 11 days and nights seeing most of Tokyo, because we liked it that much!

Rappongi Hills - home to the international corporations and large finance institutions

Tully's coffee seems more prevalent than Starbucks.

Plum sake was worth a try but pretty rough.

Hanging out in Geronimos shot bar in Rappongi Crossing (Tokyo) can be quite hazardous if any of the expats are competing for the title of buying the most shots (for everyone in the bar) so they get their own plaque on the wall/ceiling.

"Hub" English pubs if you'd like a Bass ale with your fish and chips.
